Self Acceptance and Society/Fat Acceptance
Self acceptance is loving and appreciating yourself even if there are things you'd eventually like to change. Fat acceptance or society acceptance is getting society as a whole to accept that we have the same rights as everyone else and to reduce prejudice within the community.

September: Your best accessory is a positive attitude
Oh summer...where did you go? In what seems like just the blink of an eye, summer has nearly come and gone and we already in that month that vacillates between the remnants of days filled with fun and sun and the ones that harness cooler weather and the reminder that winter is just around the corner. Welcome to September!
While some of us are rushing to the stores to stock up on overpriced school supplies and a trendy back-to-class wardrobe for our kids, it's also a good time to stock up for ourselves! In the past I've encouraged us to not forget ourselves and suggested taking a class of some sort or maybe refreshing our own wardrobe and buying a new outfit ourselves too.
But this September I'd like to talk about wearing something that doesn't cost you a dime but will reap many rewards in the return and that is a positive attitude. I came across this thought when I was listening to the song "So What" by Pink recently. In one line, she sings, "I got a brand new attitude and I'm gonna wear it tonight." With that simple sentiment, I was determined that a positive attitude would be my best new accessory this fall.
When I think of all the times I haven't worn a positive attitude, I get a little stern with myself because I generally pride myself on being a positive person. I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggles with this, and there are plenty of times I've mistakenly left my positive attitude at home!
A positive attitude takes work and conscious thought. So this month, I'd like to take my positive attitude from the "earrings level" where sometimes I forget or am too lazy to put them in to the "underwear level" where it's something I always automatically do to the point where it's second nature and I don't have to think about it. I just do it! That's where I want to be with wearing my positive attitude.
There are a couple of things you can do to remind yourself to wear your positive attitude wherever you go. One idea is to put up Post-it notes on the places you'll see daily such as your bathroom mirror, your car dash or your work desk. Find those positive quotes that will push you forward to keep carrying your positive attitude with you.
There is no doubt there are times when we have a tough time feeling positive. You may get stressed with all you have to do around the house or a tough job or you may suffer from chronic pain due to a medical condition. Whatever it is, strive to carry your positive attitude with you wherever you go. You will walk taller and prouder, smile more and exude a confidence that people will notice and respond to.
Enjoy your positive attitude and September!
