Comfortable Mother's Day Fashion
May is here and Mother's Day is right around the corner! If you're a mother who's getting pampered for that special day, or if you're showing appreciation to the important moms in your life; chances are you want to look good and be comfortable while doing it. Here are a few different outfit inspirations for every type of Mother's Day celebration; be it a chill day with the kids or an adults only brunch with mom.
Cute with the Kids at Home
A Mother's Day spent with the kids is always fun and almost always guaranteed to be active, so you'll want to be comfy while looking cute, and a pair of denim shorts, comfortable sneakers, and a soft t-shirt fit the bill for that perfectly. My Vans are my ultimate comfortable shoes; soft, enough stretch to accommodate my wide feet, and sturdy enough that my feet and legs won't hurt by the end of the day. I usually add a soft lightweight flannel to this outfit too, just for a little something extra.
Mother's Day Casual Chic
If you'll be out and about on Mother's Day, maybe to a movie or a casual lunch, a lightweight cotton shift dress is a great choice. Choose one in a color that flatters you, and pair it with your favorite flats or sandals for an effortlessly cute Mother's Day look. I chose green because it makes my skin tone and hair color pop, paired it with a lightweight denim shirt, and my every reliable Vans sneakers.
Grown Ups Only Celebration
Maybe your partner is taking you out to celebrate sans kids, or you're treating your mom to a fancy brunch; either way you need an outfit with a little more OOPHM. That's where a little black romper comes in. I love this one in particular from ModCloth. It's lightweight, super stretchy with an elastic waist, 3/4 length tabbed sleeves, and it's long enough to prevent the dreaded chub rub. The great thing about this simple black romper is that is can be accessorized in so many ways; I pair it with some black flats and a simple necklace and I'm ready to go.
No matter how you choose to celebrate Mother's Day or what you decide to wear, just remember to be confident and never forget that you are beautiful and amazing, exactly how you are. Happy Mother's Day!
Fat Positive Blogs
Blogs are a wonderful source of information. I have found them to be a useful Fat resource, especially when it comes to body positivity and fatshion. It is so helpful to see what clothes look like on bodies that are shaped like ours. It is also helpful to know that there are others out there who have the same life struggles that we have. You might get a different perspective on how to deal with things, based on the experiences of others.
I recently joined a group of plus size bloggers. We are taking one fashion topic a month and doing a blog hop. Our first topic was leggings. We all did a blog about it, linked our blogs, and published them at the same time. It is so great to see the many different ways an item can be worn on a fat person, from smaller plus to super plus.
Here is a link to my blog. In it, you will find the links to all the other blogs.
