Self Acceptance and Society/Fat Acceptance
Self acceptance is loving and appreciating yourself even if there are things you'd eventually like to change. Fat acceptance or society acceptance is getting society as a whole to accept that we have the same rights as everyone else and to reduce prejudice within the community.

Priorities on Mother's Day
YouTube "Truth Bomb Mom" Kristina Kuzmic is not only hilarious, she's right. In one of her most watched videos, entitled "Priorities," she talks to followers from a bathtub full of bubbles with a ginormous glass of wine and a donut on a fork. Her message is that it's more important to put your own self-care first than it is to have a perfectly clean house. Indeed, self-care is all about priorities. If there's one lasting gift you can give a mom this Mother's Day, the gift of self-care outdoes them all.
Remembering back to my post-divorce days of parenting two children virtually on my own, it was a revelation after a over-extending myself over a prolonged period time, that something had to give. I realized that I needed to invest in my own self-care. I learned that the dangerous and exhausting dance of tornado cooking, cleaning and laundering could wait—and that I really needed to take advantage of the rare time alone I was afforded. I needed to breathe and do things that would bring me a little bit of peace and back to some level of sanity.
I formulated a plan for myself. I would dedicate a half a day to myself. Early every Sunday, I would wake up early, load a bag up with the local paper, magazines and books, grab a coffee and a bagel and head to the lake. Forcing myself into this "me time" routine was revolutionary for my mind and body. Sitting near the water and listening to the birds singing forced me to relax and wind down before my two kids came back for the week. It made all the difference in the world to my mindset. It was like a necessary recharging of the batteries before the full-throttled use that would be required to care for my kids during the week—looking back, no small task!
If you're looking for a great Mother's Day (or any day) gift for a mom or busy woman in your life, think about what would bring her a much-needed and well-deserved respite. A few gift ideas include: movie tickets, a basket of wine and snacks, a journal, a magazine subscription, a gift certificate for her favorite lunch spot, haircut, massage or manicure/pedicure. You could get totally creative with this one, too!
Love your mom. Treasure all she is and all she does. Make your gift to her this Mother's Day something that will bring her one step closer to taking good care of herself.
Happy Mother's Day, everyone!
