Laura Dockrill's new book Big Bones
She is content with her weight, and unlike other girls at her school who are obsessed with their numbers on the weight scale, BB never worries about her size.
Bluebelle, instead, has a problem with other people having a problem with her weight. She gets grouchy when asked to go to the gym or keep a food diary.
Unfortunately, a family tragedy occurs and pushes her to take a step back, reflect and gain a new relationship with herself and body.
BB is an honest and funny storyteller. The book will make readers think about body positivity and image in a new way, and it emphasizes the importance of self-love and appreciating yourself.
Laura Dockrill has a quirky writing style, and her choice of words are engaging. Adult readers may wish this was a book they'd had when they were teenagers, too.
