SSBBW / FA Quote of the Moment

"To my eyes, SSBBWs are simply beautiful women and each is beautiful in their own way. Yes, I love lots of curves and the physical bounty that is associated with a big beautiful woman." ~ J. [FA]

Self Acceptance and Society/Fat Acceptance

Self acceptance is loving and appreciating yourself even if there are things you'd eventually like to change. Fat acceptance or society acceptance is getting society as a whole to accept that we have the same rights as everyone else and to reduce prejudice within the community.

Self-acceptance means unconditional appreciation and support for who you are now, including all the elements that you want to change.

Spring Cleaning: Dusting Ourselves Off and Cleaning House

When we think of spring, we often think of seeing that first tip of the crocus flower popping up through the frozen ground, signaling the potential for warmer weather and the ability to get out and enjoy some fresh air after a long, cold winter.

Whatever connections we may have to the second season, there's one phrase that rings true for most when it comes to connecting another word to "spring," and that is "cleaning!"

Now I must confess I am not the world's most meticulous housekeeper, but I know that when my house is in order, it offers me a different mindset. Much like the person who suffers from Seasonal Affect Disorder, spring, like spring cleaning, offers a welcome promise that you will soon enjoy a better mood, more energy and peace, and a more positive outlook on life.

For our personal Spring Cleaning this year, I suggest the following:

  1. Dust yourself off and start where you are. Whether that's in a relatively organized, functioning home or a hoarder's haven, we all have to start somewhere to creating a life we are in love with.
  2. What's on your to-do list? What are things you want cleaned in your home and in your heart? Is it clutter, a stagnant or destructive relationship or the desire accept and love yourself like never before?
  3. Sort and discard anything that has not been useful, positive or necessary to you in more than six months. Is it worth saving or a sad reminder of the past? I recently lived in an apartment for three years and when I moved, realized I had been holding onto an entire double-sized bin of "too small" clothing for more than a decade. When I finally allowed myself to go through them, I realized I would never wear those outdated fashions and donated them to charity!
  4. Clean your windows so you can see the view! Is there a place in your home where you can look out the window and enjoy the blessings of our natural world? Create a peaceful spot where you can enjoy the view and better yet, inspire you to get out into nature.
  5. Make your bed by creating a comfortable space. You know the old saying, "you've made your bed, now you can lie in it"? Make your bed and your life comfortable and your own. Invest in yourself and by finding the fabrics, colors and designs that speak to you and bring you peace and comfort.
  6. Launder your life. Clean what needs to be cleaned and clear what needs to be cleared. Do you need to clear your closets or that old over-stuffed junk drawer, schedule a long-overdue cleaning of the carpets or just simply take out the trash before you hear the garbage truck coming up the street?

Spring cleaning is about getting our outward space as well as our inner self in order. Spring itself speaks of renewal and finding what makes you feel alive again. Decide what will make you feel like you are in the spring of your life. Do you want to take a college course, overhaul your diet or pamper yourself more? Whatever you choose, do it with fervor because you are worth the effort!

One has just entered my head.
If a man doesn't drink when he's living,
How in the hell can he drink when he's dead?"
