The Art of Dressing Curves by Susan Moses
Susan Moses is a celebrity fashion stylist and designer who has styled celebrities like Brandy, Destiny's Child and others. Her career in curvy fashion took off after she became the official stylist for Queen Latifah twenty-something years ago.
Since then, she has worked with plus-size celebrities and models such as Emme, Chaka Khan, Kathy Bates, Monique, Wynona Judd, Nikki Blonsky, Gabourey Sidibe, Ruby Gettinger, Sherri Shepherd and Jill Scott.
In 2011, her work was acknowledged by the industry when she received the Fashion Stylist of the Year award during Full Figure Fashion Week in New York.
In her book, The Art of Dressing Curves, Susan shares style tips she has learned about dressing plus-size women. She wrote the book after realizing that good books on plus-size fashion and style barely existed.
She made it her goal to include plus-size women and fashion in mainstream fashion, beauty and media scene. She also aimed to get more plus-size women to a point where they feel comfortable experimenting and having fun with fashion and style.
Susan shares 15 timeless wardrobe essentials and how to create a more personalized look which works for your body type regardless of shape or size. She advises against dressing to create the illusion of looking thinner or going the other extreme and hiding in oversized attire.
She also shares a list of tried-and-tested websites and stores for shopping for curves-flattering clothing. Reading this book makes shopping far more enjoyable than usual and also squashes all excuses of not knowing where to get perfect clothing.
