5 Ways To Get Your Hair and Skin Fit For Summer
We all love the heat and sun that comes with the summer until it becomes a little too much to bear. With the right habits, we can enjoy every bit of the summer without undue concern about damaging our skin and hair. Here are five tips to follow for a smooth summer in 2018.
Drink Lots of Water
Your skin and hair is a reflection of what you consume. When you eat a balanced diet and drink a lot of water daily, it shows on your skin and hair. Drinking a lot of water is most beneficial during the summer. Try to drink at least eight cups a day.
To make things even easier, download a water tracker app from your phone's App Store to set regular reminders and monitor your intake of water. Remember, when it comes to drinking water, more is preferred to less.
Moisturize Your Skin
Choose warm baths instead of hot ones. Hot showers strip oil from your skin. After taking your bath, moisturize your skin with a good moisturizer that contains shea butter. Consider overnight moisturizing as well.
To perform overnight moisturizing, apply your moisturizer to areas on your skin which tend to lose moisture faster. These areas include the feet, elbow, hands, and knees.
Deep Condition Your Hair
A healthy hair is a well-moisturized hair. Deep condition your hair weekly to soak some moisture into your hair strands and scalp. Try DIY conditioners such as eggs mixed with mayonnaise or eggs mixed with avocado. These treatments are rich in protein and help to lock in moisture. Deep conditioning prevents flaky scalp and breakage
Wash Your Hair Less Often
Summer is a period of washing your hair less often than usual. To retain moisture, wash your hair weekly or fortnightly and prevent the frequent application of heat to dry your hair. Use a dry shampoo If you feel the need to keep your hair fresh and sweet-scented.
Trim Ends Regularly
One of the easiest ways to keep healthy hair is frequent trims. As time goes on, the ends of the hair become dry and begin to break. Although several hair stylists try to contain this situation by recommending various solutions, the best is trimming. Trimming split ends goes a long way to keep the rest of your hair from breaking. The more you allow the split ends to dwell, the more your hair sheds off.

Fat Positive Blogs
Blogs are a wonderful source of information. I have found them to be a useful Fat resource, especially when it comes to body positivity and fatshion. It is so helpful to see what clothes look like on bodies that are shaped like ours. It is also helpful to know that there are others out there who have the same life struggles that we have. You might get a different perspective on how to deal with things, based on the experiences of others.
I recently joined a group of plus size bloggers. We are taking one fashion topic a month and doing a blog hop. Our first topic was leggings. We all did a blog about it, linked our blogs, and published them at the same time. It is so great to see the many different ways an item can be worn on a fat person, from smaller plus to super plus.
