One More Win For SSBBWs

Project Runway started in December, 2004 and has had 14 seasons since then. The show is a fashion design reality TV show where contestants compete to create the best clothes and style, while restricted in time, materials and theme.

In all 13 past seasons, there has never been a plus-size designer on the show. Ashley Nell Tipton is first! And not only is she a gorgeous and fun plus-size woman, but she also designs exclusively for plus-size women; using her own personal experiences and needs to create beautiful silhouettes that flatter curvy women. This creative designer proves that fashion designers can make good and beautiful clothes for women of all sizes, including size 14 and up.

Her designs are inspired by Mexico City in the 1950s, and include candy-colored lace dresses, matching silk crop-tops and skirts, and elaborate floral headpieces. Her garments are full of bright colors and patterns; styles which are usually taboo to plus-size women.

Here are some pieces from her collection.

Her goal as stated on her website, says "My mission is to represent for full-figured women and to enable them to have options to express their style and individuality through fashion as women who wear 'standard' sizes."

"I'm trying to put plus-size on the map," Tipton says. "We can be fashion-forward too."

Tipton has always been clear about these goals and her contributions to the world. She's been designing since her early teenage years. It really is exciting to see her dreams come true! She has her first store launching soon, and hopes to set an example for future plus-size designers all over the world. "I feel happier than I have ever felt in my life - not just to have won Project Runway, but more so that the world will get to see my voice and my heart through my designs, "I can't wait to shine a light in the fashion world for plus-sized women everywhere."

This is sure a win for plus-size girls all over the world! As 2016 approaches, let's all take a cue from Tipton, narrow in on our dream life, and go after it with childlike belief. Live, laugh, love is the motto for 2016!

Have a wonderful holidays!

Fat Positive Blogs

Blogs are a wonderful source of information. I have found them to be a useful Fat resource, especially when it comes to body positivity and fatshion. It is so helpful to see what clothes look like on bodies that are shaped like ours. It is also helpful to know that there are others out there who have the same life struggles that we have. You might get a different perspective on how to deal with things, based on the experiences of others. SSBBW mag has a blog section. If you haven't checked it out, you should! SSBBW Magazine Blogs

I recently joined a group of plus size bloggers. We are taking one fashion topic a month and doing a blog hop. Our first topic was leggings. We all did a blog about it, linked our blogs, and published them at the same time. It is so great to see the many different ways an item can be worn on a fat person, from smaller plus to super plus.

Here is a link to my blog. In it, you will find the links to all the other blogs.
