Taking Your Measurements
When I bought my first custom dress from eShakti.com, I had to take my measurements. Since then, I have used the info a lot. I find that I do most of my shopping online. Before, I would just guess at the size chart. Now, I have an idea of how something with fit knowing my measurements. My life has changed for the better! I return for fewer items and buy things I never thought I would buy. So, how do you get accurate body measurements?
Start with a cloth or pliable measuring tape. If needed, tape two of them together. I have one I purchased at a fabric store that goes to 120 inches. Measure on bare skin and keep the tape taught. It is best to measure the largest section of each area. Measure the circumference of each area, save for your sleeve length and inseam. I also measure my hips when I am sitting. I seem to spread when I sit. I want to make sure my clothes past the sit test! Sleeve length should be measured with your arm bent (as shown in diagram). Start at the middle of the back of your neck and measure all the way down to your wrist. Inseam is from the inner part of your thigh to your ankle, or wherever you like your pants to fall.
Fabric content is also a big deal for me. I rarely buy anything that doesn't stretch. If you have favorite fabrics in your closet, look at the fabric content on the garment tag. Keep this info with your measurements. It might make your shopping decisions easier.

Fat Positive Blogs
Blogs are a wonderful source of information. I have found them to be a useful Fat resource, especially when it comes to body positivity and fatshion. It is so helpful to see what clothes look like on bodies that are shaped like ours. It is also helpful to know that there are others out there who have the same life struggles that we have. You might get a different perspective on how to deal with things, based on the experiences of others. SSBBW mag has a blog section. If you haven't checked it out, you should! SSBBW Magazine Blogs
I recently joined a group of plus size bloggers. We are taking one fashion topic a month and doing a blog hop. Our first topic was leggings. We all did a blog about it, linked our blogs, and published them at the same time. It is so great to see the many different ways an item can be worn on a fat person, from smaller plus to super plus.
Here is a link to my blog. In it, you will find the links to all the other blogs.
Here is a list of some fat positive blogs that might help you on your journey:
I know there are plenty more. I would love to hear about blogs you visit on a regular basis! Email me! <3
