Fashion/Beauty information for SSBBWs/BBWs
Do you know of a great store or website that sells clothing for SSBBW or a beauty produce that you'd like us to review? Or perhaps you want to write a review yourself and see it in print! Let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org
"Real fashion for real people" is the catch phrase on their website. I think they are right. I really can't praise this company enough for the options they offer and for the sizing that you can get. eShakti www.eshakti.com offers dresses, crinolines, coats/jackets, tops, and skirts in rack and custom sizing. Their rack sizes are 0 through 36.
For off the rack sizing, they do have a size chart listed on their website. I have known women who have ordered a 36 and been outside the measurements listed. It probably depends on the fabric and style of the garment.
For custom measurements, the first time is free. After that, it is $7.50 per garment. Have someone help you take your measurements, if you can, for accuracy. They ask for many things, like upper arm, waist, hip, height, etc. As for the garment, most can have sleeves added or subtracted, necklines can be changed, and the length can be changed. All of that for $7.50!
I have ordered and tried everything but their skirts. I am just not a skirt person. Everything I have ordered was custom and everything comes with pockets. POCKETS! I love pockets. When I ordered a crinoline, even it had pockets. The more they do custom, they better I think they get. My first two dresses needed minor modifications. The last several things I have ordered have been perfect. I have returned two things. One of them was because the fabric was too heavy for Texas weather. The other was the crinoline. The waist was too tight. Even if you get custom measurements, you can return your item for store credit or refund to your original method of payment.
The clothes ship from India. Longest I have had to wait was about two weeks. They do have amazing sales and coupons. When that happens, the wait might be a little bit longer. If you see something you like, though, you better try and get it. Popular fabrics and styles are gone quickly. Sometimes they bring them back and sometimes they don't! First time buyers can sign up for a $25 coupon. You can usually use that with their monthly percentage off offer (15 to 20%). Dresses start at $60 and go up from there. They range from casual to fancy.
If you haven't ordered from them already, you should really check them out. A word of caution, though, for anyone in Canada, I have heard the duty fees can be steep. You might want to investigate before you order. I believe shipment to the US is fine, as long as the order is under a couple hundred dollars.
