Getting Ready for Halloween
It is only September…and that means Halloween is just one more month away. It is never too early to start thinking about your costume! This is my absolute favorite holiday. Candy and dressing up, is there a better combo?! I know several BBW communities that have Halloween parties. That is usually what I end up doing. Love to see what everyone comes up with and how they put it all together.
As with everything we bigger gals put on our bodies, it can be hard to find costumes or come up with ideas for costumes. I have noticed over the past 10 years that it has become easier though, and I hope it continues to be so. Thank goodness for the internet!!
If you can sew, or know a seamstress, there are a few pattern companies that have patterns in SSBBW size ranges. I have used costume and regular clothing patterns to make Halloween costumes. Over the years I have made costumes from patterns for the following: a spider, Maid Marian, Cruella Deville, Bride of Frankenstein, and a Pink Lady. Joann Fabrics and Crafts are located across the country. They will usually run specials once or twice a month on patterns. I have found them at Joann for $.99 or $1.99, frequently. They also have a nice selection of fabrics. As it gets closer to costume making time, their Halloween inspired fabrics are always on sale.
For Halloween 2009 I bought my costume at roamans.com. I believe last year was the first year they offered costumes. Roamans does have a good selection, including offering BHM (Big Handsome Man) costumes as well. Unfortunately roamans’ coupon do not apply to their costume selection.
There are many different online stores that now carry plus size costumes. Here is a list of some that I have found:
