April showers bring May flowers, but what do May flowers bring? PILGRIMS! Just gotta love that one...

Aside from the now blooming flowers that May has brought us, one and all are apt to celebrate Mother's Day this month. Keeping with that theme, let's go back in time a bit and reminisce on one of the most famous and absolute BEST movies from the 90's, "What's Eating Gilbert Grape".

For those of you who are in the dark on this one, here's the storyline - Gilbert Grape lives in a sleepy Iowa town and has got a lot of weight on his shoulders due to having to support his siblings, including a mentally disabled brother and his morbidly obese mother. After many trials and tribulations that his young life has thrown him, he finally finds love and lets her into his home life, which he has, over the years, become quite ashamed of.

There are a few very well known actors that play in this movie, including Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Juliette Lewis, Mary Steenburgen and John Reilly. One, not so, is Darlene Cates who portrays the part of Bonnie Grape. She was discovered by the movie writer, Peter Hedges, when she appeared on an episode of Sally Jesse Raphael entitled "Too Heavy to Leave their House". In several interviews she's been quoted as saying she weighed 489 pounds during filming and how she cried between takes because of the hurtful reality of the scenes. She also has said that being housebound and having mobility issues put a strain on her throughout the shooting. Regardless, she did a fantastic job playing Momma and is a true inspiration.

"What's Eating Gilbert Grape" is a great movie to see this Mother's Day. Happy May Day, Cinco de Mayo and to all who are graduating this month! And of course, Happy Mother's Day to all!

FOX is creating a dating show for the rest of us --"More To Love."

The show will feature a husky, average-Joe type of guy dating a bevy of plus-size women -- and, in the end, choosing one who sets his heart aflutter.

Think of it as a reverse-image of "The Bachelor." (It's even being executive-produced by "Bachelor" creator Mike Fleiss.)

"There have literally been about 50 iterations of the 'Bachelor'-type TV shows . . . but most of them are basically skinny women and a nice-looking man. That's nice, but it's not the real world," says Fox reality chief Mike Darnell.

"The vast majority of people who watch those shows don't look anything like that," he says. "People of a heavier size don't need love any less.

"Beauty and love come in all shapes and sizes. This is an entertaining idea that's relatable to most of the people in the dating world.

"It's sort of like a social experiment -- disproving the idea that we only watch shows featuring the thinnest of the thin."
