Self Acceptance and Society/Fat Acceptance
Self acceptance is loving and appreciating yourself even if there are things you'd eventually like to change. Fat acceptance or society acceptance is getting society as a whole to accept that we have the same rights has everyone else and to reduce prejudice within the community.

Giving Thanks at Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is commonly celebrated in November in the United States. However, in October, Thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada. There are many things that we can be grateful for, and there is no better time to show their gratitude than at Thanksgiving.
Many SSBBW's face the hardships of ridicule all year long. It is time for us to embrace our inner selves and love ourselves wholly for all that we are. Thanksgiving is a great time fore reflecting and showing others what it is like to be grateful for. There are various ways that we can show our gratitude. Such methods of gratitude are: services in the community, donating time to a shelter, serving foods to homeless people at Thanksgiving dinner, as well as just being there for others during their time of giving thanks.
Many people do not stop to think what all they are grateful for. There is so much in this world to be grateful for, and yet we are often in a fast rush of life that we do not stop to thank all of the gifts that we are given. We can show their gratitude for others by rolling up their sleeves and helping out in the community. This may be as a form of gathering school supplies for needy children, or helping to serve meals within the community or for raising funds for a food drive, or money to help aid children that are in need.
Another way to give thanks at Thanksgiving is by donating time to a shelter. Shelters such as homeless shelters or a battered women's shelter, are both positive opportunities and outlets for those that represent the SSBBW community. Many SSBBW greatly appreciate what they have, and do the best that they can to continue their journey in their life. Giving back to others that are less fortunate, such as helping those out in homeless and battered women's shelters is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the less fortunate. Assisting at these shelters may simply be in the forms of giving a lending ear and a tender shoulder to cry on. It could also be in the form of handing out clothing items, or warm blankets for the people and families to sleep under. SSBBW's can make a powerful statement by just being there for others, and this is often the message that is relayed.
One of the most important holidays, aside from Christmas, is Thanksgiving. There are many single individuals as well as families that are without a place to sleep, let alone a warm Thanksgiving meal to eat. Donating time to help cook, serve, and clean from a meal at a local food shelter or a local charity, such as Salvation Army, is one of the best easy that a Thanksgiving Day meal can be celebrated. It is often during such activities that people realize that their problems are so miniscule, especially those that are SSBBW's. To be able to set aside one's own needs to help those that are in greater need is a true sign of love and compassion.
The spirit of Thanksgiving lives on in many hearts every day. It is not just at the one time of the year that society comes to help on those that are less fortunate. The spirit of giving lasts the whole year thru. There are numerous organizations and activities that we can participate in during the Thanksgiving holidays, that there is never such as thing as too much help. Helping others during Thanksgiving is not only giving back to others, but giving back to one's self. There is no greater gift that any SSBBW can give to any other man besides love - and self love, too.
