SSBBW PROFILE

Profiling SSBBWs and their views, thoughts and issues


To help inspire those SSBBWs who haven't yet gotten that they are wonderful, caring, sexy, special people. Someone who is accepting of themselves, who is happy (either alone or with a loving mate), perhaps someone who works or does good things for the community. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do. There is so much negativity on the net towards SSBBWs that we want to show the good side. This month's SSBBW is Patti, a 47 year old from Ontario, Canada

SSBBW Magazine: What is your current weight?

Patti: between 200 - 400 pounds

SSBBW Magazine: What body shape would you say you are?

Patti: Bottom heavy

SSBBW Magazine: Have you always been an SSBBW?

Patti: No.

SSBBW Magazine: Tell us abit about your weight history.

Patti: Until the age of 10 (just starting puberty) I was very skinny.  Started gaining weight very suddenly, and quickly and have been batteling my weight ever since.

SSBBW Magazine: Why would you be an inspiration to other SSBBWs?

Patti: As a teenager I guess the teasing and prejudices bothered me quite a bit, but it only succeeded in making me stronger. I learned to deal with life the way I was, and not to give up trying. I didnt let things make me bitter, and kept my happy-go-lucky personality and in doing so I made alot of good friends and aquaintences who loved me for what is inside and not for what I looked like outside.

SSBBW Magazine: What are the joys of being an ssbbw?

Patti: Not having to compete with other women, to look like a supermodel.

SSBBW Magazine: What are the drawbacks?

Patti: Trying to live in a thin society, where everything is catered to a small body type

SSBBW Magazine: What is it like being an SSBBW in today's society?

Patti: Very difficult, when tv. and magazines all put out into society that you have to be thin to exist.

SSBBW Magazine: How would you like to change society's view of SSBBW?

Patti: I would like to change the way people react to us, I wish they would except us a normal people. and not judge us by the way we look.

SSBBW Magazine: What do people/companies serving the public need to do to accommodate ssbbws?

Patti: Make sure that the seating in the restraunts and theatres are made to accomodate larger patrons too. Make sure each table has at least one chair with no arms. or in the theatre have seating that the center arm can lift up. Larger bathroom stalls, and if there are offices with a lot of stairs have elevators to accomodate us or the handicapped.

SSBBW Magazine: Can you recommend such people/services who do?

Patti: Moxy's Restraunt in Bayshore Mall (Nepean, Ontario), have chairs with no arms and pretty big booths. I have always been treated with respect and kindness there.

SSBBW Magazine: Do you follow any exercise or healthy eating regimes? If so, what are they?

Patti: I try to get as much walking in as I can and try to limit my sugar and carb intake, since I am diabetic.

SSBBW Magazine: If you could wave a magic wand and be 130 lbs, would you?

Patti: Hell yeah!! who wouldn't.

SSBBW Magazine: Do you have a favorite overweight actor/actress?

Patti: Jack Black, he is a bit over weight but it doesnt seem to bother him, he's funny and has a great personality.

SSBBW Magazine: What would you like to say to all the SSBBWs reading this?

Patti: Dont give up, either except yourself for what you are or if you can't do that, do something about it! Find a good healthy diet, and start a exercise class. If you find it easier with help find a friend in the same boat as you and do it together. It is more fun that way.

SSBBW Magazine: What would you like to say to those just reading this out of curiosity about the SSBBW / FA community?

Patti: I hope you enjoy the magazine and I hope it gave you a little more insight into the life of a SSBBW.
